ABOUT PUMPKIN SEEDS: Did you know?
Pumpkins are native to the Americas and are also known as "pepitas".The word comes from the Mexican-Spanish phrase "pepita de calabaza", which means "little seed of squash." They were well appreciated among Native American people, because of their dietary and medicinal virtues. Research shows that they have been part culinary uses since the time of the Aztecs, around 1300 AD. From the Americas, through trade and explorations, their fame started to spread around the world, from Eastern Europe to Asia, where it gradually came to be incorporated into everyday cooking habits.
